During the past decades, the survival of premature infants increased. However, the neonatal population is still at great risk for many complications that may result in clinically significant neurological injuries, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, seizures, etc. Such problems may, in turn, result in developmental delay and cerebral palsy. These circumstances indicate the necessity to monitor the cerebral function in NICU environment during this critical period. Besides the abnormality diagnostics, the cerebral function monitoring (CFM) must be performed to assess the treatment process and impact of corrective measures on central nervous system (CNS) maturation.

CFM is also important for full-term infants with the minimal suspicion of the cerebral function abnormalities as a result of genetics or pregnancy/delivery complications to assess the brain maturation and predict the CNS abnormalities. Also the cerebral function monitoring can be prescribed to adults during anaesthesia and in intensive care units after cardiac arrest, during status epilepticus, and after heart surgery, sometimes in comatose states to assess the CNS state.

Neuromonitor is a bedside, available, user-friendly device specially developed for these purposes.

Long-term monitoring of EEG and other physiological parameters: ECG, SpO2, respiration, etc.

Visualization of aEEG, SpO2, HR, respiration and other trends during recording and reviewing.

Automatic detection of the pathological aEEG patterns which are specific for the central nervous system abnormalities.

The alarm signal is initiated automatically if the pathological pattern is detected.

To start monitoring, place 4 electrodes on a patient’s head and press several buttons on the device screen. No special cap is required!

The native EEG is saved in the device memory and, if it is required, can be interpreted by EEG specialist in the realtime mode or after the monitoring.

The intensive care unit staff may operate the device without long-term special training.

In difficult cases Neuromonitor can be easily transformed into full-function device for long-term video EEG monitoring that allows recording EEG, video and audio information and using all advantages of Neuron-Spectrum.NET software.

In 2011, I purchased the first Evidence 3102* from Schreiber&Tholen**, Germany, for my research lab dealing with disease models of peripheral neuropathies, myasthenic syndromes, and of myelopathies in mice and rats. The run-in period was very short because the programs are user-friendly, dependable and adaptable to the special needs in small rodents, the youngest being 8 days old. No EMG machine I ever used before was as powerful as this one. On numerous trips to collaborating labs in the US, Germany and Switzerland I carried this equipment with me. Meanwhile 6 completely established sets are working in most of these collaborating labs. There was no failure ever of the Neurosoft hardware, and in case of minor software problems Schreiber&Tholen provided swift and concise help through the Internet around the globe if needed — again with no precedence in my career in clinical electrophysiology. Even in lab facilities without perfect electromagnetic shielding little if any problems occurred. I highly recommend this equipment to anyone interested in doing clinical neurophysiology in animal models of neurologic disorders
